Jamie Irwin, STA alum and former STA Head Coach, has signed a professional contract with Australian club Bundoora United FC.
“Thank you so much STA for playing such a big part in my career,” said Irwin. “I’ll always be grateful to be a part of the STA family!”
Irwin was a part of the STA Fury Red team during her youth, and was also a member and captain of the STA WPSL team. At the collegiate level, she played for Bryant University and the University of New Hampshire, where she was a four-time First Team All-Conference selection. Irwin joined the STA staff as a head coach at the Morris United branch in the summer of 2022, becoming the club’s first former player to transition into coaching.
“Congratulations J on signing your first professional contract; your story is truly inspiring to many and I am so glad STA was able to share this journey with you,” said Kelly Sims, STA Girls Academy Director. “From starting STA with the Fury Red and Millburn Magic Summer Select teams, it is amazing to see how far you have come as a player and person. As a coach, I was so excited to welcome you back to STA after your time at Bryant University to captain the STA WPSL Team and then share the sidelines as our first STA Player turned Coach. I am proud to call you my friend, and am so excited to watch you thrive at the professional level in Australia. Your resilience and determination to come back after injuries and still chase your dream is admirable. Congratulations Friend, Coach and Baller, STA is cheering for you!”
